The erstwhile Sree Ramaswami Bhagavathar's pioneering spirits
and talents knew no bounds. Born with musical genes that coursed
through his veins, he dedicated his life to imparting the
soul of music to the people of his land. In 1928 he founded
the Sree Thyagaraja Smaraka Sangeetha Vidyalayam. Multi-talented
and endowed with statesmanship, he led the school from strength
to strength. His perseverance and devotion to his vocation
got him the recognition from the government of Kerala, when
in 1948 it was recognized by the Sangeeth Nataka Akademi.
This versatile musician was adept at playing all kinds of
musical instruments. He was a music director, singer and lyricist
too. He was also one of the founders of the renowned K P A
C - (Kerala People Art Club.), Ramaswami Bhagavathar , Famous
singers like K.S.George, K.P.A.C. Sulojana are his studdnts,
1959 Bhagavathar became the principle ( He is a good Karnatic
Singer ). after 79 his son under taken this institute. and
this yearon words this institute known as Sree Thyagaraja
Smaraka Sangeetha Kalalayam he is well known as Singer,
Music director & and karnatic singer. |
Following
the footsteps of his famous grandfather is the dynamic director
of the Thyagaraja School of Music - Sangeetha Sree Punalur
T S Jairaj also known as 'Soorya Saena'. Being recognized
by the Delhi Sangeeth Natak Akademi in 2000, this school became
a perfect platform for him to excel. He took over the reins
of this institute in 2002 and he made his presence felt immediately.
This versatile and talented genius is already a successful
music director. Highly accomplished , he passed the lower
and higher levels of vocal music with flying colors. He is
also a holder of Ganabhooshanam, K.G.T. and M.G.T. in Indian
Music.
Bringing
in a rush of young blood into this traditional school of music,
Soorya Saena has begun modernizing this organization without
changing its age old values. The Thiruvananthapuram All India
Radio holds him in high esteem. Like the generations before
him, he too is an expert at a variety of musical instruments
such as the Veena, Violin, Mridangam Tabla, Guitar, Organ
and the Harmonium. Besides these talents he is also skilled
in Drama, where he performs the dual role of actor-director.
He actively participates and holds memberships in organizations
like Kaladarpanam Art Lovers' Association, Sree Guru Gopinath
Trust, Gandhi International Charitable Trust and Sangam Kalagroup
members etc. The school today forges ahead in leaps and bounds
under his able leadership. |
